Vice President of Strategic Communications
Dan has more than 30 years of broadcast journalism and public relations/media experience in Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth.
Dan was with CNN for 14 years, and more than half were as an on-air correspondent covering transportation and business stories. He also worked at leading stations in Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth, before joining CBS NewsPath as a freelance reporter, based in Dallas. During his career, Dan has been awarded eight Emmy Awards and two Edward R. Murrow Awards for journalism excellence.
Dan served as a consultant to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association on national media issues, before joining AAA as its Manager of Corporate Communications and Community Affairs for Texas and New Mexico. He worked on a wide variety of transportation safety issues, including texting while driving and strengthening the Texas graduated driver’s license program for young people learning to drive. In 2011, Dan joined the American Bus Association in Washington, D.C. as its Senior Director of Communications. During his five years at ABA, he created the bus industry’s first ever crisis and reputation management program, as well as leading the association’s day-to-day media effort.
As both a reporter and public relations leader, transportation safety and mobility related issues have been the primary focus of his work. In addition to his Master’s Degree in Public Relations Management from Kent State University in Ohio, Dan holds two certificates in aviation safety from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and he is a licensed commercial pilot.
