Intelligent Transportation Society of America Agrees Crumbling Transportation Infrastructure Threatens U.S. Economy

The following is a statement from ITS America President and CEO Regina Hopper on Thursday’s report by the American Society of Civil Engineers infrastructure report card giving the nation a “D+” grade.

“As President Trump, Congress, and other key stakeholders begin planning to repair America’s crumbling infrastructure, the American Society of Civil Engineers report card shows the urgent need to reinvest in our roads, bridges, transit systems, and other critical areas. D’s were awarded in 12 of the 16 categories graded by ASCE, and only one area, rail, received a B. It is critically important that in the building and modernizing of our infrastructure “intelligent” solutions are designed into the projects, and technology is used to make them last longer, be more efficient in their operation, and improve safety.”
